Related Digital Onboarding
This is an Articulate Rise project created for newly-hired employees to familiarize themselves with the basics of Related Digital, including the company’s core values and digital marketing fundamentals. Participants are required to have a basic understanding of marketing as they engage with essential information.
Audience: Primarily aimed at new employees, as well as Key Account Executives
Responsibilities: Action Mapping (Needs Analysis), Curriculum Development, eLearning Development
Tools Used: Articulate Rise, Google Sheets, Google Docs
Target: New employees will have the necessary knowledge and skills to work independently in the specific area covered by the training, after completing this course.
The Problem
The problem was that there was no orientation program regarding the history and fundamentals of the company, which has a very close relation between systems, tools, and concepts that employees can benefit from when they work.
The second problem was that the company uses a buddy system, with current employees helping and educating new hires. While this was a good way to onboard new employees, considering the bulk of work and daily responsibilities that current employees have, sometimes these helping sessions interrupted their work, or there was no time for educating new hires due to current employees’ tasks, meetings, and other obligations.
When a new employee joins the company, the same information is transferred to them as to others, leading to the same information being repeated to lecture new hires all over again. This resulted in time and efficiency problems and a need for a more structured and efficient orientation program.
The Solution
Starting with the Key Account Managers who are primarily responsible for assisting new employees and Key Account Executives during their transitions, the problem was analyzed by listening to their feedback and identifying the main issues.
After carefully identifying the problems, the main topics that needed to be covered were discussed. Upon reviewing the problems, it was concluded that there was a knowledge gap caused by a lack of education.
To address this knowledge gap, I proposed an immersive eLearning course that new employees could use to learn the most essential information, which would provide support with the company’s identity, techniques used with clients, and real-world examples.
My Process
After the client accepted my proposal for a learning solution based on the lack of knowledge in a specific area, it was time to work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify the areas of knowledge that needed to be transferred. The SMEs prepared a Google Sheets document and provided me with relevant links from their own resources to guide me in the process.
Need analysis is a critical part of my design process as it enables me to ensure that I am meeting the client’s requirements while also keeping the learning content relevant and meaningful to the learners.
By setting a performance goal, I can keep all stakeholders focused on the new employees’ business performance and success, rather than just the “information” they need to know. Prioritizing actions helps me to reduce cognitive load and assist the learners in encoding and retaining the most critical information related to the performance goal specifically for the Related Digital company.
Interactivity
I received feedback that there have been previous attempts to teach the topic through trains, but they were unsuccessful because the content was in PDF or video lectures, leading to a lack of enthusiasm among learners.
As the learners are digital natives, my job was challenging as I needed to come up with an effective solution that is visually rich and interactive. In this case, I found Rise’s interactive elements to be very suitable, and I have incorporated a range of them, such as click-and-reveal, card matching, and hotspots.
Follow Up
The second project I worked on was a success, as it focused on providing new employees with essential information, such as ‘Dijital Pazarlamaya Giriş’ (Introduction to Digital Marketing), when starting at Related Digital at a beginner level.
Dijital Pazarlamaya Giriş
Andragogy, which divides the learning experiences into meaningful parts to create a learner-friendly environment, is crucial to its success. This course serves as the first step in organizing the categories and relevant knowledge into one comprehensive course.
Development and Recommendation
The course is designed to be editable, taking into account the feedback from learners. We recognize that the feedback from the learners is invaluable, as it provides insight into what is working and what needs improvement.
The organicity of the course is essential as it allows for a dynamic and iterative learning experience. By incorporating feedback from learners, we can continuously improve the course’s effectiveness and ensure that the content is meaningful and relevant to the learners’ needs. This approach fosters engagement and motivation, ultimately leading to better outcomes and increased performance for the learners.

I just wanted to say how impressed I was with Gokcenur’s course suggestion after explaing what we have been through. Our company has been struggling with the issue of repeating the same information to new employees and we were looking for a way to prevent this. Gokcenur’s course suggestion has been exactly what we needed. Her first prototype have been illuminating in helping us to finally find a solution. I also want to mention that after we implemented Gokcenur’s course suggestion, we were able to quickly adapt and bring it to life. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication!
